Packing Up!

You know what’s funny? When you think you’re a minimalist and then you have to empty your entire house… A few things have gone to storage[keepsakes, pictures, small furniture we don’t want to part with and stuff the kids won’t get rid of] but a lot of things we have given away/donated/sold! We’ve been extremely thankful for our local Buy Nothing group on Facebook. If you have one where you live you should definitely join. There are always people looking for things or giving things away and it’s always within a certain radius of your house. It makes where you live feel more like a real community.

Moving stuff to the storage unit has actually been pretty fun, the girls love loading the cart and riding the elevator to our unit, especially when we let them ride on the cart! We got a 10×15 thinking we would have tons of room and its quickly filling up!

Writing this post makes me realize how many times the word “things” is used. The last few months have definitely taught us that things just don’t matter. You don’t need 72 chip clips, 200 stuffed animals and 14 hairbrushes! It’s hard for kids to understand what you actually need vs what you want to keep. I think they are getting there though. Our house is much much emptier but somehow everyone is happier and more content than before. Maybe we are on to something 🙂 Maybe all the things we need are actually just each other!
